TOP 5 TRAVEL FOOD. Food is always a big thing when travel. Try the local stuff, enjoy new flavours and visit all kind of different restaurants. I`m not what people would call a ”travel foodie”. I do like food. Don’t get me wrong. But I rather see myself spending money on adventures then expensive food. With that said - I’ve listed my top 5 food experiences when travelling around the world.
BEEF BOWL IN TOKYO, JAPAN
We found this place by a coincidence - and I tell you - Japan knows their beef! The place was called Red Rock and was situated in the cool area of Harajuku. You order the food outside the restaurant in a ”vending machine” wait for your turn and then EAT! The bowl was filled with perfect cooked rice, loads of beef, a very tasty sauce (similar to Ceasar dressing) and yolk. We went twice.
You haven’t tasted lemon sauce until you visit this part of the world. The plate doesn’t look very special plane chicken with fried potato wedges - but oh boy that sauce gonna haunt me forever. Can’t even describe it. It need to me tasted. No idea about the restaurants name. Located somewhere on the main street in Granada, outdoor serving while watching a boxing game.
This could be the tiniest and most expensive dish I ever had. I would say it made up for my empty wallet since I’ve still remember it as one of the best dishes ever. Nothing fancy really, slightly grilled asparagus and grilled cucumber (weird right!?!) with some kind of vinegrette with herbs. Visit Restaurant Geist in Copenhagen for expensive and tasty food.
When in Guatemala everything you eat contains beans. I love beans! This plate was so simple, rice mixed with butter and a handfull of kidney beans. If ever visit Antigua be sure to go to this cosy backpacker place Rainbow Café and order the cheapest thing on the menu. Beans.
I´m a sucker for sushi. Everywhere I go. Sushi is a delicate art form and my favorite place for sushi is to be found in the Swedish town called Borås - Chihaya!
BONUS FOOD: CORN & OLIVES - AROUND THE WORLD
Everywhere I go I always looking for grilled corn and markets with olives. Best grilled corn I would say can be found around the coast of mediterranean (with loads of salt and butter) and for olives I would pick Spain (especially the gazpacho flavored ones in Madrid) and Morocco - the land of olives - love love love the tangine dish with chicken, olives and lemon.
